Back in November 2008 Miu Miu announced that Katie Holmes — a neophyte in the modeling world — would be the face of their Spring/Summer 2009 ad campaign. More of the ads have just been released, and I have to say that I think they’re stunning.
Many were skeptical about whether Katie Holmes would be an appropriate fit for the brand and whether or not she could really model. Choosing her is somewhat of a departure from recent picks such as Vanessa Paradis and Kirsten Dunst, though she certainly holds her own — especially considering that this her first major advertising campaign.


Ms. Holmes appears straight-faced and serious in the ads — inciting people to make parallels to Victoria Beckham’s modeling and everyday style.
Miu Miu said the photos portray ‘a luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality, which evokes a certain Fellini-esque chaotic excess’.
In contrast to the make-up free, pale Katie we’ve seen on the streets of New York over the last few months, the actress looks glowing in the ads with her shiny skin and smoky eyes.
Her bob is also gelled back to give the impression of a much shorter haircut – a similar length to the one Victoria is currently sporting.
