GERMANY’S LARGEST CATWALK EVENT ANNOUNCES THE FIRST DESIGNER NAMES
After the overwhelming success of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July 2008, the fourth season is already well on its way and will take place from January 28 till February 1. Thanks to the great collaboration of title sponsor Mercedes-Benz, the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin and the other sponsors, IMG Fashion will again produce a catwalk event of international standard at Bebelplatz, both this season and in July for the Spring/Summer 2010 collections.
”Bringing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to Berlin was a necessary step for Germany’s fashion designers and we are very excited that we can ensure international attention for the innovative collections they are presenting on our catwalk,” says Maia Guarnaccia, Vice President IMG Fashion Europe. “German designers have realized how important a catwalk show is for their marketing goals and IMG Fashion brings the expertise to Berlin to assure the best possible production standards.”
A large number of designers have already confirmed their participation, proving the great success of the last season. Among others BOSS BLACK, EASTPAK, JOOP!, Kilian Kerner, LAC ET MEL, Lala Berlin, Marcel Ostertag, Michalsky, Scherer González, Suzana Peri? as well as ALLUDE, Amato Couture, Bernhard Willhelm, ELDER·FELDER, Kaviar Gauche, Schumacher, UGG Austra-lia and 30 Paar Haende will show their Autumn/Winter 2009 collections at Bebelplatz.
“We have succeeded in giving Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin a unique face by mixing nationally and internationally renowned brands with up-and-coming designers,” says Anders Sundt Jensen, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “This unique mix is winning great recognition in the international fashion world.”
The tradeshows PREMIUM, STARK. and ProjektGALERIE along with many interesting offsite events throughout the city of Berlin, will again attract buyers from Germany and around the globe. The Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin is preparing a new season of Showroom-Mile, where local businesses and galleries open their doors to designers and grantthem the space to exhibit their work. This event is open to the public and allows Berliners and visitors to get a glimpse of the fascinating world of fashion.
“We are delighted that both seasons of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will be held at Bebelplatz. The shows in July 2008 were a great success and the central location was an important factor. I am absolutely convinced that the positive achievements of this event will continue,” says Senator Harald Wolf. “It is always exciting to see the development of the designers and their collections.”
